A Fun and Busy Week!

Well, last week was a fun and busy week! We spent Tuesday and Wednesday at Michael's helping him pack up his house. I packed the kitchen and did a lot of watching as they loaded all the heavy boxes that I wouldn't have touched even if I wasn't 6 1/2 months pregnant! The highlight of the trip was watching David and Michael load the "Love Sack". Getting it through the door was quite a challenge and reminded us of something you would have done at youth Camp! (If you haven't seen the love sack, just imagine a gigantic, huge, enormous bean bag--and it is bigger than that.)

We got home reallly late on Wednesday night and had Drs appts on Thursday. Thankfully, all went well with my bloodwork and I survived my glucose screening test. Friday my great mom-in-law came in for a visit and we celebrated her birthday.


Saturday, Whitney, Flo (her mom), and Peggy gave me a great baby shower! Everyone blessed me with great advice, some amazing gifts and super fun fellowship with some old friends. There were great games too--guess the baby food (thankfully there was a rule against tasting the baby food), guess what type of chocolate bar is melted in each diaper and guess the number of Q-tips in the bottle. I didn't even come close to winning any of the games, but they graciously gave me the prizes anyway (Diapers, q-tips and wipes!!!!)

Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms, Aunts, Sisters, Teachers out there.

This is from Spurgeon's little book "Come Ye Children" and addresses all you ladies out there:

O dear mothers, you have a very sacred trust reposed in you by God! He hath in effect said to you, "Take this child and nurse it for Me, and I will give thee thy wages." You are called to equip the future man of God, that he may be thoroughly furnished unto every good work. If God spares you, you may live to hear that pretty boy speak to thousands, and you will have the sweet reflection in your heart that the quiet teachings of the nursery led the man to love his God and serve him. Those who think that a woman detained at home by her little family is doing nothing, think the reverse of what is true. Scarcely can the godly mother leave the home for a place of worship; but dream not that she is lost to the work of the church; far from it, she is doing the best possible service for her Lord. Mothers, the godly training of your offspring is your first and most pressing duty. Christian women, by teaching children the Holy Scriptures, are as much fulfilling their part for the Lord, as Moses in judging Israel, or Solomon in building the temple.

And another section on the importance of those little ones in your lives:

...Witnesses for God are often persons converted in their youth. He seems to take a delight to make these His special standard-bearers in the day of battle. Look at Samuel! When all Israel became disgusted with the wickedness of Eli's sons the child Samuel ministered before the Lord. Look at David! When he is but a shepherd boy he wakes the echoes of the lone hills with his psalms and the accompanying music of his harp. See Josiah! When Israel had revolted it was a child, Josiah by name, that broke down the altars of Baal and burned the bones of his priests. Daniel was but a youth when he took his stand for purity and God. The Lord hath today--I know not where--some little Luther on his mother's knee, some young Calvin learning in our Sunday school, some youthful Zwingli singing a hymn to Jesus. This age may grow worse and worse; I sometimes think it will, for many signs look that way; but the Lord is preparing for it. The days are dark and ominous; and this eventide may darken down into a blacker night than has been known before; but God's cause is safe in God's hands. His work will not tarry for want of men. Put not forth the hand of Uzzah to steady the ark of the Lord; it shall go safely on in God's predestined way. Christ will not fail nor be discouraged. God buries His workmen, but His work lives on. If there be not in the palace a king who honours God there shall yet be found there a governor who fears the Lord from his youth, who shall take care of the Lord's prophets, and hide them away till better days shall come. Wherefore be of good courage, and look for happier hours. Nothing of real value is in jeopardy while Jehovah is on the throne. The Lord's reserves are coming up, and their drums beat victory.

Fun Weekend at Daniel and Karen's Home

So here are some highlights from our weekend!

We got to meet Kaitlyn Grace (8 days old in the picture) and hang out with big brother Ethan. Ethan helped David clean up the boat. :) Amy, Cliff, Emily and Aaron joined us for Mexican food and we had fun getting out all the pieces to the Larry Boy puzzle....
